Fundraising

I started as a telephone, door to door and community fundraiser before managing the in-house individual giving and telephone fundraising campaigns at St Oswald’s Hospice.

After five years I joined the British Heart Foundation as their ‘community fundraising relationship manager’ and won an award for my quick fundraising success not long after.

During my time at the BHF, I was seconded to roll-out their brand refresh within their fundraising campaigns and materials; responsible for growing supporter engagement and income.

I now provide fundraising consultancy to charities across the UK and beyond to increase their income, develop and streamline strategies, and provide interim support. I teach methods and best practice to fundraise through strong relationships and have been awarded for my approach both in person, and online (Social CEOs Rising Star 2018) – maybe I can help you?

Learning & Engagement Event Management

I founded Pizza for Losers; a hugely successful learning and engagement event for the charity sector with a focus on learning from and celebrating failure. The events were sold and inspired positive change and conversations within charity teams across the country – the associated businesses got some decent coverage too!

The event was well-featured across online influencer channels and was attended by a popular sector podcast.

I also co-founded Fundraising Everywhere to bring accessible, affordable learning to fundraisers unable to attend traditional conferences.

I’ve delivered charity fundraising events, local conferences and national conventions for organisations such as the Institute of Fundraising, British Heart Foundation, and regional businesses.

I now organise and manage events like these for agencies or charities that don’t have the capacity to do it themselves. Tell me your big idea and I’ll help bring it to life.

Public Speaking & Training

I was a member of the Newcastle public speaking training group, Toastmasters , feature as a speaker on www.greatcharityspeakers.com and listed within the ‘top 20 speakers’ for National Convention 2018 and 2019.

I’ve spoken around the world including Austria, Slovakia, Manchester, London, Helsinki and Dublin about all things fundraising, with lots more sessions coming in 2021.

Training clients include Alzheimer’s Research UK, The Children’s Society, Diabetes UK, Barnardos Ireland, and East London Arts Fundraisers.

I’m also a CharityHowTo approved trainer and deliver a range of webinars on fundraising and donor engagement.

Supporting Charities & Fundraisers

I’m an ex-member of and volunteer for the North East Institute of Fundraising committee and organised the North East’s first-ever fundraising conferences in 2017 and 2018.

I am now on the Chartered Institute of Fundraising’s National Fundraising Convention Board (#CIoFFC) looking after the community, events and volunteering track; if you have an amazing idea you’d like to share at the event, I’d love to hear from you!

I am a mentor and mentee and in the process of becoming a certified coach. In 2022 I will work with a small number of junior and mid-level management fundraisers who want to take the next step in their career.

Marketing and Project Management Support

I work with the brilliant team at Open to help them share their story and skills with the sector. This long-term project involved creating and delivering their marketing plan and implementing their online marketing events to share knowledge and build relationships.

I have also provided ad-hoc social media support for events and conferences including the Social Media Exchange and Dublin’s Bluefire Street Festival.

I am working towards a APM project management qualification with the Oxford College of Leadership and Management and have worked with The Children’s Society on a sprint project to identify and develop key campaign concepts for their online DIY activity.

I was delighted that Nikki could join our team to boost our capacity and project manage a test we wanted to try. The work was around reaching out to attract supporters who wanted to do things to raise money for TCS using Facebook. She pulled a group of people who were not used to working together and made them a team, worked in short sprints to keep the pace going and all done remotely.

Nikki’s energy, humour and superb organisational skills resulted in a host of learnings, recommended supporter journeys, creative adverts we knew would work and a new product that is still going strong. She upskilled the team with her digital prowess and the team haven’t looked back since. She also expertly managed a range of stakeholders with different expectations seamlessly. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nikki to any organisation that wants to learn more about how to blend digital and physical especially in community and events fundraising space.
