I began my fundraising career the same way many of us do, by accident. I volunteered for a corporate community team, signed up for a trek across the Jordan desert (as you do), and I’ve not stopped since.
I’ve been a telephone, door to door and community fundraiser before managing the in-house face to face team at St Oswald’s Hospice; as well as the individual giving and telephone campaigns and associated strategies.
After five years I joined the British Heart Foundation as their ‘community fundraising relationship manager’ and won an award for my quick fundraising success not long after. During my time at the BHF I was also responsible for the roll-out of their brand refresh within their fundraising campaigns and materials; responsible for growing supporter engagement and income.
I now provide fundraising consultancy to charities across the country and beyond to increase their income, develop and streamline strategies, and provide interim support. I teach methods and best practice to fundraise through strong relationships and have been awarded for my approach both in person, and online (Social CEOs Rising Star 2018) – maybe I can help you?

Learning & Engagement Event Management
I founded Pizza for Losers; a hugely successful learning and engagement event for the charity sector with a focus on learning from and celebrating failure. The shows were sold out with some attendees immediately making positive changes within their teams and extending their professional networks to support ongoing conversation – the associated businesses got some decent coverage too! The event was well-featured across online influencer channels and was attended by a popular sector podcast.
I’ve also delivered charity fundraising events, local conferences and national conventions for organisations such as the Institute of Fundraising, British Heart Foundation, and regional businesses.
I now organise and manage events like these for agencies or charities who don’t have the capacity to do it themselves. Tell me your big idea and I’ll help bring it to life.
“An honest and open event where people are allowed to be vulnerable and form genuine connections with other attendees.” – Pizza for Losers, London
Public Speaking & Training
I’m a member of the Newcastle public speaking training group, Toastmasters , and feature as a speaker on www.greatcharityspeakers.com; as well as the ‘top 20 speakers’ list for National Convention 2018. I’ve spoken in Newcastle, Scotland, Austria, Slovakia, Manchester, London, Helsinki and Dublin about all things fundraising, with lots more sessions coming in 2019; including IFC Holland and the opening plenary for an IoF
I’m also a CharityHowTo approved trainer and deliver a range of webinars on fundraising and donor engagement.
If you’d like to see what sessions and workshops I cover or book me to speak at your event, get in touch!
Supporting Charities & Fundraisers
I’m a member of, and volunteer for, the North East Institute of Fundraising committee and organised the North East’s first ever fundraising conferences in 2017 and 2018. I am now on the Institute of Fundraising’s National Fundraising Convention Board (#IoFFC) looking after the community, events and volunteering track; if you have an amazing idea you’d like to share at the event, I’d love to hear from you!
I’m a mentor and I’m also a director and trustee for the North East based arts organisation, Mortal Fools, and working with them to implement a new fundraising strategy.
